On the 50th anniversary of one of the most traditional marathons in the world, 5 of the 6 places on the podium went to athletes from Ethiopia.

In the men's category, Milkesa Mengesha was the big champion with a time of 02h03m17s, followed by Kenyan CyBrian Kotut and his compatriot Haymanot Alew.

Tense ๐Ÿ˜ฌ:ย the men's podium was extremely tight, with a difference of just 5 seconds between 1st and 2nd place, and 9 seconds between 2nd and 3rd.

In the women's category, favorite Tigist Ketema won gold with ease, achieving a time of 02h16m42s. More than two minutes later came 2nd and 3rd place Mestawut Fikir and Bosena Mulatie, respectively.

Quick route ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ:ย In the men's category, the first six athletes to complete the race set personal records (PRs). In the women's category, with the exception of champion Ketema, the first seven athletes to complete the race also set PRs.

Biggest in history ๐Ÿ†:ย Last Sunday's Berlin Marathon broke the record for the highest number of finishers (athletes who completed the race). An incredible 54,280 runners completed the race!

For the first time in his career, Brazilian triathlon hopeful Miguel Hidalgo reached the podium in a World Triathlon Championship Series competition.

In Weihai, China, the athlete from Salto, in the interior of Sรฃo Paulo, finished the race behind only the current Olympic bronze and gold medalists, Frenchman Leo Bergere and British Alex Yee, respectively.

The result itself was far from being the best of the Brazilian's career, having already completed the same distance in almost 7 minutes less last year.

Clearly, there is no way to compare times in this way in triathlon, since the water conditions when swimming, the wind when pedaling and the running route are some of the many factors that influence the result.

Definitely a result to celebrate for the promising Brazilian, who is just 24 years old, and the question now is not if, but when Miguel Hidalgo will reach the top step of the podium.

Nothing more fair than an event with lots of fans and overcoming after everything that has happened in Rio Grande do Sul so far this year.

To kick off the weekend, the half marathon started at 7am on Saturday morning, followed by the 5k and 10k races which started at 9am.

On Sunday, the day was reserved for the marathon, in which more than 5 thousand athletes participated. In total, more than 18 thousand athletes competed this weekend in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

On the podium, Brazilians Franciane Moura and Samuel Nascimento came in second and third place in the women's and men's categories, respectively.

The men's category was won by Maxwell Rotich from Uganda, in 02h18m55s and the women's by Vivian Kiplagati from Kenya in 02:42:57.

After the test, Franciane fainted and needed medical attention, but she is fine.

The test, which usually takes place in July, had to be postponed and because of this, conditions were not as ideal as usual.

Temperatures reached 25ยบC, with 80% humidity, making the already intense heat even worse.

After everything that 2024 delivered to Rio Grande do Sul, an event of this size was the least the state deserved!
